Fed up with hectic city life? Head for the hills!

In the heart of Prince Edward Island’s rolling countryside there’s a private creative oasis: Walden Cabin. A week in the woods can be good for the soul. It can also be an opportunity to catch up on your reading, to start (or finish!) writing that novel, or just to reconnect with nature.

A winding gravel drive through mature maples leads to the main cabin, nestled in a clearing on ten acres of mixed woodland and wildflowers. A hike to the top of the hill reveals a panoramic view of classic PEI farmland.

Walden Cabin was designed in the style of a heritage PEI carriage house, complete with cedar porch, pine board floor, kitchenette, and open bedroom loft. The loft bed is directly below a skylight; drift off to sleep under the summer stars! A second building, the bath house, is unique to PEI. The morning sun and summer moon shine in through a cathedral window onto the claw foot tub. With the woods and a Concorde grape arbor just outside the window, the experience of a soak in the tub is divine, like a luxurious bath in the great outdoors! Mix it up a bit and shower outdoors under the grape canopy.

Relax in comfort and complete privacy. Walden Cabin features top-quality bedding and linens, a small kitchenette that includes a fridge and range, plus all your dishes and utensils.

Enjoy a book from the summer reading library by the woodstove, or do some writing at the desk.

Walden Cabin is centrally located, 30 minutes from Confederation Bridge. A few minutes’ drive in any direction takes you to most of PEI’s most popular attractions: Cavendish Beach, theatre in Charlottetown, fresh seafood at Victoria by the Sea, and world class golf. A nearby cross-country ski park is an excellent place to hike, or you can stop in at By the River bakery in Hunter River for fresh baked treats.

How to reach us

Walden Cabin is available from June 1 to the end of October for week-long rentals, or for longer periods.

$650/week for one or two adults (non-smoking, no pets please).
